19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player won his maiden title for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid period, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the American major.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in specific - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-term mentor Cervara.

Presently working with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is his initial championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface after that period of 2023.

Victory also indicates he has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct events.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to get a title is really nice," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my child her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six championship matches, including in the German tournament previously this season.

His counter-punching strategy and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had led some to doubt if his capacity to perform at the highest level was finished.

But the player has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform positively, backed up by an improved service.

The champion fought back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, winning 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair swapped breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his first ATP Tour title, gained dominance to force a final set.

Moutet defended 4 initial chances in a close third set before the Russian broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner earned the title with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
